Wire Stretch Hose will not be corroded instantly upon contact with oil stains. The degree of corrosion depends on oil type, contact duration and hose material technology. Short-term contact with clean light engine oil and lubricating oil will not cause damage if cleaned timely. Nevertheless, kitchen fume oil, waste engine oil, emulsified oil and mixed catering oil commonly seen in daily and industrial scenarios will continuously bring dual progressive damage to the outer plastic pipe wall and internal steel wire frame once accumulated for a long time.
Firstly, oil stains damage the base material of the hose. The pipe wall of most Wire Stretch Hose adopts polymer flexible materials such as PVC, PE and EVA. These materials withstand pure grease relatively well but cannot resist impurity-mixed oil. Kitchen oil stains contain food residues, acid-base salts and high-temperature oxidized impurities; industrial oil contains sulfides, oxides and chemical additives. These impurities penetrate the surface of the pipe wall and destroy the molecular structure of materials. Long-term grease accumulation makes the pipe wall sticky, soft, discolored and peeling. Material toughness keeps declining, followed by hardening and embrittlement, so cracks and breakage easily occur during stretching and retraction, leading to air or water leakage and loss of functionality. Moreover, oil absorbs dust and forms stubborn grease firmly stuck in pipe folds, further accelerating material aging.

Secondly, oil stains damage the core steel wire frame, the primary cause of hose failure. Most internal steel wires adopt galvanized anti-rust treatment, and the surface galvanized coating serves as the core protection layer. Oil is airtight; once attached to steel wires, it completely isolates air and absorbs moisture in the atmosphere, forming a sealed humid micro-corrosion environment on steel wire surfaces. The rusting rate multiplies compared with dry conditions. Acid and alkali impurities inside oil continuously erode the galvanized coating, triggering coating peeling, mottled rust and oxidation of steel wires. Steel wires gradually become thinner and lose toughness. Rusty steel wires form rough rust spots that continuously rub and abrade the inner pipe wall, causing perforation and breakage. Deformed rusty steel wires also result in telescopic jamming and poor resilience of the hose.
In addition, long-term accumulated oil breeds bacteria and mold, further eroding pipe materials and accelerating aging. It should be noted that hoses with thickened high-quality coatings and food-grade materials feature stronger oil corrosion resistance, while low-cost hoses with thin coatings and recycled raw materials are vulnerable to oil corrosion. During daily use, timely cleaning, flushing and drying after contact with oil can effectively avoid corrosion and improve durability. If placed in an oily environment without maintenance, obvious corrosion damage will emerge within several months.
