Many users operating warehouses and workshops with humid working conditions ask about the mold resistance of PU Tube. They worry that prolonged placement in humid surroundings will cause mold, deterioration or damage to the tubes and interfere with normal operation. It is clear from the outset that PU Tube manufactured from genuine new raw materials is built on polyurethane polymer material, which has no inherent tendency to grow mold. This property comes directly from its material structure. The polyurethane structure is dense and solid, and it contains no starch, sugar, cellulose or other organic nutrients that microorganisms need to survive. The material also delivers reliable waterproof and moisture-proof performance. Water molecules cannot penetrate into the tube body, and humid surroundings will not trigger mold growth or decay inside the PU Tube.

Mold spots or white mildew visible on PU Tube surfaces in daily use are not signs of mold growing within the tube material. They are merely surface attachments caused by external environmental factors. In air with high humidity, countless dust particles, fine impurities, bacteria and mold spores float around. When PU Tube sits undisturbed for a long time in a closed, damp and poorly ventilated space, its outer surface absorbs moisture and dust from the air, gradually forming a thin dirty wet film. This film supplies nutrients for microbial survival. Combined with humid, dark and static conditions, it creates a suitable breeding ground for mold spores, and visible mold patches or white fuzz will eventually appear on the tube surface.

It is important to distinguish that this type of mold only resides on the tube surface. It will not penetrate the tube wall, damage the internal structure of PU Tube, or alter core working properties such as flexibility, pressure resistance and recovery performance. This is fundamentally different from internal decay damage seen with wood, fabric and ordinary rubber products. PU Tube made from inferior recycled materials contains mixed impurities and fillers added during production. Its less pure surface traps contaminants more easily, so such products are more prone to attached mold growth under humid conditions compared with tubes made of pure raw materials.

Preventing mold growth on PU Tube in humid environments does not require complicated operations. Basic storage and maintenance work is sufficient. When stacking tubes in storage areas, maintain good air circulation and avoid standing water in enclosed spaces for long periods. Wipe dust and dirt off tube surfaces regularly to remove carriers for microbial reproduction. For tubes left unused for extended periods, simple dust covering can block impurities and moisture from the air. Overall, PU Tube delivers much better moisture and mold resistance than most common flexible hoses. With basic maintenance in humid environments, it can remain intact for a long time.
