Service Life of PVC Dust Collection Hose

As a common hose for industrial dust removal and ventilation, PVC Dust Collection Hose has no fixed uniform service life. Its durability is mainly determined by material quality, operating conditions, installation methods and daily maintenance. The general service life ranges from 5 to 8 years for standard products, and high‑grade modified weather‑resistant PVC Dust Collection Hose can reach 8‑12 years, whereas only 2‑3 years can be achieved under harsh working conditions. From the material perspective, hoses made of pure virgin PVC raw materials feature high purity, sufficient toughness and strong anti‑aging performance for stable service life. In contrast, low‑grade hoses manufactured from recycled materials contain numerous impurities with loose internal structures, which are prone to peeling, cracking and damage, cutting the service life by half. Some upgraded versions incorporate anti‑UV, low‑temperature‑resistant and wear‑resistant modifiers to adapt to complex environments and greatly boost durability.
Working conditions act as the decisive factor for service life. In conventional workshop environments at 20‑30℃ with dry atmosphere, no corrosive substances and fine dust particles, the hose suffers little abrasion and chemical erosion and ages slowly, realizing stable operation for over 8 years. Continuous temperatures above 60℃ will accelerate softening and aging of PVC, decompose its molecular structure and cause deformation and brittle cracking. Under sub‑zero conditions, ordinary PVC hoses will turn stiff and brittle, generating cracks under slight vibration or pulling. Moreover, corrosive fumes and humid moisture from chemical workshops will erode the hose wall, thinning it and triggering pulverization and peeling. When high‑hardness large‑particle dust flows at high speed inside, continuous scouring will wear grooves on the inner wall and reduce wall thickness, sharply shortening service cycles.
Installation and operation habits also exert direct influences on durability. Excessive bending, forced stretching or over‑tight fasteners during installation will create concentrated stress on the hose wall and bring about cracking at stress points after long‑term operation. Overhanging sections without adequate supports will shake persistently under fan vibration and aggravate hose fatigue. Accumulated dust and debris left uncleaned inside will trap moisture to corrode inner surfaces and increase load to accelerate aging. On the contrary, standardized installation with reserved expansion gaps, regular cleaning and protection against sunlight and high‑temperature equipment can avoid most damage factors.
Outdoor‑used PVC Dust Collection Hose ages 2‑3 times faster than indoor counterparts due to ultraviolet radiation, wind‑rain erosion and drastic temperature fluctuations, resulting in discoloration, hardening and cracking. By comparison, indoor hoses sheltered from light with constant dry temperature age at a very low rate. To prolong service life, operators shall select properly modified materials matching practical working conditions, implement standardized installation, carry out routine cleaning and protection, and conduct periodic inspection and replacement under severe conditions so as to guarantee stable long‑term operation.
