Proper routine maintenance of PU hoses can effectively extend their lifespan and reduce replacement costs. Before performing maintenance, it is recommended to conduct a basic inspection before and after each use, checking for scratches, bulges, loose joints, and residual stains on the inner wall. Addressing minor issues promptly can prevent them from escalating into more serious problems.
During use, avoid over-tugging the hose. PU hoses have a certain stretch limit, and prolonged, forceful pulling can weaken the hose wall and reduce its pressure-bearing capacity. Additionally, select the appropriate hose for the medium being transported. For example, when transporting oily substances, use an oil-resistant PU hose, as ordinary hoses are prone to degradation when in contact with oil. Furthermore, choose the correct connector and tighten it with moderate force. A loose connector can lead to leakage, while overtightening can damage the hose connector.
Storage is also crucial. When not in use, empty the hose of its contents, roll it up, and store it in a dry, well-ventilated area. Avoid direct sunlight, as ultraviolet rays can embrittle the hose material. Pay attention to storage temperature as well-avoid temperatures below -10°C (14°F) and avoid storing the hose near high-temperature equipment, as extreme temperatures can affect its flexibility. If the hose has minor damage, such as a small pinhole, you can first apply special repair adhesive and wait for it to dry before reuse. However, it is recommended that repaired hoses be used only in low-pressure applications. If the damage is severe, do not continue using the hose to prevent bursting during use, which could pose a safety hazard.
